View Full Version : They say bad things come in three...

Today three things occoured two annoying, the other very sad and at the same time just pissess me off.
1: Both my wrists have developed an ache that leaves them stiff and very sore and tender to movement. which is bad because I'm an apprentice chef and i need to beable to use my hands *sigh*. It's lessened considerably after strapping and smothering with deepheat but they still twinge a little.
2: the palm of my right hand while at work suddenly swells up and starts ot burn and ache like i've been bitten by something nasty. whether thsi is because of a bit or a nasty reaction. That is still current and leaves my hand feeling tight, itchy and burning.
3: And lastly, but by no means the least. I get home from the first half of my split shift to learn than nextdoors god damned :furious: mangy curs escaped and killed my cat. From what I was told they came around the fence and straight down the driveway and were on her in seconds as she slept in the garden (something which she'd been doing a great deal of in the last year).
Patch was admittedly 18 years old, deaf as a post and a little on the bonyside but she was my deaf, bony, old cat. I'd had her since I was 8. *sigh*
thankfuly those bastards next door are moving out on tuesday so rags (my other cat) will be staying indoors until wendsday, just on the chance that those curs get out again.
The damned beasts throw themselves at the bloody fence whenever I try to go out into my own backyard. I didn't need them to kill my cat to know they were vicious animals.

I am truly sorry for your loss, it is a shame that those dogs killed your beloved cat, and 18 is a remarkable age, but its not fair at all, you should really report the dogs, escpeiclly if this is what they are going to do, even if your nextdoor neighbours are moving, what about small children? to me, those dogs could be a danger for any small child, or cats, and seems those dogs have not been treated well or brought up well
so I would report them to something like the RSPCA or some over group, (depending on where you live) and see if action or some response could be had, especailly if the dogs are dangerous, attacking an old cat or any pet isn't on, and if those dogs have a feeling for more blood, who or what could be next?
so my advise is report them as fast as you can, otherwise some other pet or child could be next
as for your other ailments, sorry to hear that too, you should see if there is a problem with your hands, and if there is a cure? but I would get your hands seen too by a doctor,
but otherwise, that is the best advise I can give you

Sorry for the loss on your cat. That's a wrong way to die...

You need to get to a doctor asap about your hands & wrists. (unless they continue to get better).
But if they get worse, or flare up again, then you need to go.
I'm no doctor but it could be arthritis, or poor blood circulation, diabetes, or any number of things...including carpel tunnel.
Sorry to hear about your cat, but I hope that she didn't suffer much.
In either case,I'm sure she went quickly, which could be viewed as a blessing in disguise. I know that when a cat that old stops eating, it usually means that they are near the point when they are about to give it up.
Do you plan on getting a kitten after the neighbors move?

Probibly not. I still have Rags whom I rescued from the Vets and she's not quite a year old yet. and my other cat Simba died about 2 years ago at 16. Unlike Patch he died of natural causes, unfortunately he chose to die under the porch where we couldn't get him. The stench was horrible, we could smell him for weeks.
My wrists are also getting better, slowly admittedly, but they don't hurt too badly today.

I share your pain. In last 5 years, I lost 4 cats.
The most disturbing one was when I was just going to a friend and got out from my house in the backyard, when i heard a car breaking, then i saw my cat running over the fence coming few meters close to me, and then dropping on ground, end never getting up. The cat died before my eyes. I was so depressed that day, that I almost cried every time I think about it.

I've had a few horrific encounters involving cats myself.
When I was little I was walking with a friend not far from the dump. I spotted a cardboard box just laying next to the road & decided to look into it. There were 4 kittens, all covered with ants. One of them was already dead, and so I took the rest out of the box & took them home. Another died the next day. Two of them remained healthy, but one day when I came home from school one of them was excited to see me, so it kept jumping all around my feet. I tried not to step on it, but failed. I heard a slight crack and the cat went into fits. I picked it up and it literally died in my arms.
The other cat got bigger and then disappeared.
Another instance was when we had one of those orange cats (don't remember the breed), but it was a neat cat. One day we got a call from the neighbor asking for someone to go over there and to hurry, and that it was about our cat. Apparently someone had run it over.
When I went I was horrified to find the cat with it's lover half crushed, but it was still alive just shrieking in pain. It was crawling with it's two front legs, going in circles, and rolling over, as if trying to escape the pain. My mom had to take it to the vet to be put to sleep.
Another time is more of second-hand nature, but it infuriates me to this day.
I went over to some friend's house (who I also worked with), and he had company over that included some other guys I knew. They were sort-of friends, but none I hanged out with.
Anyway...I get there and they told me that "I missed it." ..."missed what?" I asked, and they told me that Jeff had just minutes earlier bashed a cat's brains in on the curb. I asked them why he did that for, and they said because they hate cats, and that the cat let them pick it up, so the guy swung it by the tail and bashed it's head against the curb. They said it's brains came out, and they thought it was funny. There was blood by the curb, but no cat. When they saw my eyes tear up they laughed even harder.
If I had a gun I would have murdered them right there & then. :furious:
I went home instead.
This next one has a happy ending...of sorts.
My girlfriend lived at some crappy apartments that were low rent. It had some shady characters living there, most of whom had terrible kids.
One day I see a cat limping. it was a black cat, & it was tame enough. I picked it up to see if I could see why it was limping. Apparently it had a broken hind leg and the bone was sticking out. One of the kids saw me with the cat and asked me what I was going to do? I told him that I was going to take it to the vet. I asked him if he knew what happened, and he said that one of the other kids ran it over on their bike. I can't say if the kid was telling the truth, or was just covering up for himself.
But I took the cat to the vet, who was getting ready to close up for the day. I showed them the cat and they agreed to take it in. They told me the cat would likely have it's leg removed. I went back the next day to see how the cat was doing, and he was fine, albeit missing the leg. They asked me if it was my cat, and I told them it wasn't, and that it was a stray. They told me that they wouldn't charge me for the surgery and that they knew a person who took injured animals in. I thanked him and gave him $40 bucks anyway (not a lot of money, but was all I had), and he said he would give it to the lady who will take in the cat.
And I could go on & on with stories such as this.
I generally like all animals, and will do my best to help any animal I encounter that needs help, excluding the strays that I see.
I wish some people would take better care of their animals, or simply not get any to begin with.

"Barnicles"
All this talk about cats makes me want to adopt a kitten.
Or even a puppy.
Heck, even a monkey would suffice.
