So the hellhound pet is a definite. He'll have three skills to unlock:
Ember Claw - A fiery claw swipe that does increases physical and fire damage to multiple enemies in front of the Hellhound.
Hellfire Aura - This ability gives the Hellhound a self-buff that inflicts burn damage to adjacent enemies and boosts fire attack damage. It also makes the hellhound look a bit cooler as it sets itself ablaze and leaves a trail of flame in its path.
Molten Breath - Gives the hellhound a devastating fire breath attack that damages enemies within about a 4m cone infront of the hellhound.

YES!!! =)
How will it perform its melee attacks? Will it use both, claws and fangs? Will it be visible on its animation?
Will the buff "Ember Claw" be visible with some nice fiery claw effect? =)
Oh God, the Hellfire aura!!! Can't wait to see the effect in action!! =)
Yay! Thanks for update!!

Yes, ember claw has a visible effect. It basically adds a periodic attack to the Hellhound's repertoire that leaves glowing claw streaks in the air for a split second after he uses it.

I think it would be lovely to hear some angry, beasty sound of flesh tearing fiery Hellhound. =))

This class pet sounds awesome!
Thanks for the news Medierra!
So far hellfire Aura seems like the coolest ability to me, a trail of fire indeed.

Will there be any explosive animations when the hellhound dies?

Great! Like Core Dweller, but cooler (or in this case, warmer, haha *bad pun warning*). Ahem.
I just hope that unlike in TQ, burn damage will actually do some damage after normal difficulty.

Brilliant! Pet classes are my absolute favorite to play. So happy to see they've made it into Grim Dawn :D

Love it! Can't wait to see it in action.
Wow, that sounds really cool. Can't wait to see that bitch (yes, my hellhound will be a female, just so I can call it a bitch :P) in action.
Thanks for the update, Med.

Love the idea of Hellfire Aura. :D
Ember Claw & Molten Breath - will we have control over this? (pointing targets)

You can't specifically tell the Hellhound when to use its skills but you can direct which enemies it attacks.

I understand that it can use its special attacks as soon as he had enough energy.
Medierra get some sleep (Yesterday 11:45 PM), questions can wait. Thx.

I concur with this statement :)
You guys at Crate are legendary. Just thought I'd reiterate that... again.

Kind of sounds like the pup I am raising especially the breath attack, though mine is especially dangerous with her tongue attack.
Keep up with the good work guys.

Never really been a fan of Pets, (other than necromancers!) But I might make an exception for this.
Sorry for joining the party late, but what were the first 2 classes announced if this is the third? And are there any links to said classes giving a preview of skills/abilities?

This is a pet for one of the already announced classes (occultist)...not a new class itself.

You'd have to look around or get lucky and have one of our archivers post a link.
But we have had several brief descriptions of skills and classes from the devs among random threads.
As far as we know, we have 5 classes by release - currently something like 3 being worked on (occultist, demolitionist, and soldier) I personally, expect the other 2 to be a ranged class, and an assassin class. (medierra mentioned a few times about an assassin type kit, some assassin type "blade veil" and some other things). The ranged, I'm just guessing cause what else would fit in with the 5?

Some Warpbreaker, Warpbender, or magi-like char, not "just" pet summoning Occultist, I mean completely dedicated magi or some sort of hybrid created by some Warp anomaly, dunno. But I think I've read somewhere here, there is not going to be any mage, right? =)

I noticed that you can summon two hounds at the same time, but one of them self destroied after a few seconds.
What is the limit of hounds you can have? I guess you can have one permernantly and a second one for a period of time when you see the battle is in dire situation.

In the video medierra has 2 Hellhounds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYI2DMPWpWg&t=2m55s) for about 25 seconds. One of them dies quite suddenly. Edit: False "I don't think it returns to where it came from after some time, but takes some massive damage then." True "A Hellhound has indeed only a limited lifespan (http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?p=49434&highlight=hell+hounds+limited+lifespan#post49434)." End of Edit Shortly before the boss appears (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYI2DMPWpWg&t=3m29s) he stocks up to 2 Hellhounds again.

I think one of the most important aspect of summoning build or pets build is that they need a Taunt skiill for taking aggro off from the main character. The skills can break into 2 sub-skills that governs the AoE of aggro and another the %Chance of aggroing.
Wow, that sounds really cool. Can't wait to see that bitch (yes, my hellhound will be a female, just so I can call it a bitch :P) in action.
Hmm. Hellbitch. Has a nice ring to it!
I think one of the most important aspect of summoning build or pets build is that they need a Taunt skill
With the ability to have 2-3 of these puppies in the field, that doesn't sound right.
Also that they have a limited lifespan, which automatically ditches aggro.
The Tank Pet™ you're thinking of pretty much has to be something more permanent.
Anyway, any taunt skill had better be an AOE / arc effect. Fine pet control is an impossibility in a fast-paced action RPG. =)
Temporary swarm pets are best used in a DD role and with the relative freedom to equip armour I'm not so sure we can expect a pure, squishy, pet class.
A "real" pet demands making sacrifices in character survivability and that's easier to do in more strict class systems.
