I'm on book 2, half way through at the moment, but so far it's been a very good read, battles, mythic creatures, angels, demons.
I would suggest the series to anyone.

I think I read part of the black road once..
Heh, you should play Median XL (http://modsbylaz.hugelaser.com/). It puts a lot more of the Diablo novels into the game.
Pretty cool.
Innarius, Lillith, mythology, etc. Some cool stuff.

I always like to read all those great novels. I'm really into blizzard games lore. Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft. All it's have considerable deep world and culture. Most of it because it is related to what I played. Unfortunately, LotR doesn't interest me. Mostly because I haven't hook by any of Tolkien works or their movies.
Sadly, I haven't have much time to indulge all of the books in the most relaxing time. I really want to read it someday in the future.

I've thought long and hard about reading the Diablo books, but I decided that it's probably best to leave some things to the imagination.
Unless they get some seriously great authors, the books can only do a disservice to my Diablo experience (or so I would guess).
I read the Hellgate: London books (the author of which wrote some of the early Diablo novels), and they were just awful awful awful. It really cheapened the lore (not that there was much to cheapen anyway). But man... If you're gonna write a book, you've got to get a great author. There are so many GREAT books to read that it's hard to justify reading books from authors who are just passable. And reading a mediocre book for a great game is just tragic.
Diablo Game: 10/10
Diablo Books: 5/10 (hypothetical)
The Diablo Experience= 7.5/10
... See how reading the books makes the Diablo experience lesser? :P
The Diablo books may be awesome though, I don't know haha.
