View Full Version : Changeable Game Main Menu

Just as the title says, wouldn't it be nice to have more than one option for the game's main menu? Imo, both of Titan Quest's game menus (original and IT) were unique and welcoming to me. The only small problem I have now that it has been a few years, I would like to be able to revert back to the original TQ menu (for nostalgia's sake).

I know this request is really nitpicky but I really think that keeping menus somewhat fresh can help the game seem more appealing after countless launches. To me, the first thing that comes to mind (unfortunately) is how many times I've seen the IT menu and how repetitive it has become. It really makes the game start off on an uneventful note.

Again I know this thread is rather picky but I must insist on adding more than one main menu. (I can only speculate that a few game menus were created before finalising one to be used as the official menu screen. Might I suggest using them all and maybe applying a random rotation; or maybe a menu themed for the city your character last visited).

Don't worry about being nitpicky man, the purpose of this section is to post ideas. The Devs will decide whether it's worth implementing or not :P.

I would say that it would be nice to have different menus, although perhaps it should be left until after launch as an optional download or something.

I also vote for different theme menu but as azrael said, it is best to leave it for additional updates later.

It might be fun for the players if the game snapshots a killing blow from the player and use that as the main menu background. This should be fairly easy to implement (and if done sparingly, eg, only on bosses, heroes and rare enemies) then it wouldn't be an insane resource hog. Perhaps any stock pictures could be made in all or many locations as well, or even instead, but both ideas would work well here, I think.

Would be fun indeed.

Snapshots of killing blows would be great; although TQ(IT) is a resource hog concerning screenshots; sometimes when I wanted to make a screenshot, I sometimes had to wait 20 seconds for it to complete (which costed me a few hardcore challenges). Something was definetely buggy there...

Also, snapshots for if the player gets killed :D

It would almost be better to have a snapshot of your dead/dying hero, since there should be more enemies and possibly spell/aura effects around (i.e. a more interesting pic).

I think if you are going to have changing menus, you should always be able to revert back to earlier ones, if theres one you'd rather have specifically.

Will the menu system be moddable in some way using the toolset? I can imagine there are artistic types out there that may produce things for the benefit of everyone if such tools are available (and I for one am always grateful for modders in all their forms!).
