There'll be a demolitionist type class, so yea, you'll have grenades. For more info, read this; http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33

medierra interspersed some details about grenades here and there.
Well, we do have a demolition class, which is sort of similar to a military shooter style engineer class. [...] Plenty of grenado, sachel charge, and shotgun action though! [...]
This character has skills from the "demolition" mastery. In the screenshots you can see two skills currently named "canister bomb" and "thermite mines". [...]

The canister bomb is lobbed like a grenade into the middle of a group of enemies where it explodes and sends out several fragments that explode over a wide area. It is great for taking out hordes of zombies, grobles, or the like. It isn't as effective against tougher enemies like the dranghoul.

[...] the demolitionist can use either a flashbang to disrupt and confuse the shaman or a grenado to knock them down / potentially kill them.

The grenado is more of a focused explosion good again tougher single targets or tightly clustered groups. It is fun to lob over walls to kill enemies in a house before you enter, although, if the roof is intact, then you can drop some thermite mines are the door before you break it down.
[...] In skills with both knockdown and high damage, [enemies] go flying. So if you hit some guys with a grenado and they aren't killed, they'll go flying across the screen, land stunned for a while, then get back up and return to the fight. [...]
Grenades - yes they have physics and you can in fact bounce them off walls around corners. [...]
[...] if you detonate a grenade in a ruined, zombie-filled house (which I love to do), you can even end up with blood spatters all over the walls.
Enemies can indeed destroy objects. [...] an enemy lobs a grenado at you and takes [a stone arch] out first.

Oh, fyi, demolition also has a "mortar trap" now. Not sure why its called a trap? Basically you can place a mortar that just continuously fires off various types of charges while you fight in an area. The munitions randomly vary between fiery explosives and electrical "stun jacks". There is an ultimate level modifier for it that causes it to fire off "big bertha" right before it dies. Big Bertha will annihilate just about everything left on the screen except for tough champions, heroes or bosses. The trick is that the mortar has to survive for its full life-span before it can fire Big Bertha.

YES!! =)

Medierra, I know you hear it often (maybe too much, heh), are you planning a release of some videos concerning specific introduced classes and their work-in-progress skills? It would be really, really, really, really appreciated. =)

The trick is that the mortar has to survive for its full life-span before it can fire Big Bertha.

So, does it have some higher aggro modifier that you need to care about it not to let it die?

There won't be any videos happening for probably at least month, mainly because our pathing is totally fux0red atm. Story is, we're using a new 3rd party path-engine that is still in development. We're at a point where we made changes in preparation for the next version but it looks like the new version we need won't be released for another month or so. Grrr... What can one do against such reckless hate? So, looks like screenshots for the time being.

I see. So, the pathing system is brand new or just a new version of the one we saw on the combat video? Any significant changes we may notice with the new one?

Anyway, it is not that bad, you know, we love screenshots too! ;-)

@Everyone, sorry for off-topic, I had to ask.. =))

It is brand new since TQ but since the combat video, just a new version. The latest will allow us to create dynamic pathing obstacles. This is necessary if we want to randomly spawn objects into the world at run-time and have them block pathing. An example of this would be a randomly spawned tree or a quest / scripted trigger that caused an avalanche or something like that. We weren't able to do that sort of thing in TQ without creating a special-case hack for it.

Development is often two steps forward, one step back. It is the cost of progress.

It is, is not it? But you will get there eventually, and we all will celebrate that day as the day of Grim Dawn of all the living.

The new pathing sounds great, can't wait for some similar stuff of what you mentioned. =) I also really love the grenadier and the skills you mentioned, it will be really fun to play! =)

Thanks for your time you dedicate to us eager members answering the questions. That is the attitude you will not see anywhere else I guess..at least nowadays.. =)

There is an ultimate level modifier for [the mortar] that causes it to fire off "big bertha" right before it dies.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/dc/Dicke_Bertha.Big_Bertha.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bertha_%28howitzer%29)

Big Bertha (German: Dicke Bertha; literal translation "Thick (or fat) Bertha") is the name of a type of super-heavy howitzer developed by the famous armaments manufacturer Krupp in Germany on the eve of World War I.
Woohoo - German technology prevails :D ... But is it OK to use real historic references in Cairn's fictional context? Isn't there any eponymous event in Cairn's history for this ultimate level modifier?
