Situational skills can be used in specific cases generally have a cool down attached to them and can help the player out in a tight spot on the battle field. If you have any ideas about a situational skill for any class and using any type of fight mechanic please suggest it here!
- Disintegration Field -
- The player causes the air in the area around him to burn for 10 seconds destroying all incoming ranged attacks, 30 second cool down.
- Gravity Bomb -
- The player throws a bomb of gravity sucking all enemies towards it's center for 7 seconds, this ability has a 24 second cool down.
- Slow Time -
-Player emits an area of effect time warp slowing all enemies and projectiles within it for 10 seconds, 30 second cool down.
- Mirror Monster -
- Player creates a mirror of 3 enemies in front of him they deal 40% enemy damage and last 30 seconds, 1 minute cool down.
- Frozen Fire Wall -
- Player creates a wall of frozen fire around him that lasts for 15 seconds, dealing fire damage to enemies attempting to enter combat range, slows the enemy, 45 second cool down.
- Warping Shot -
- Player shoots a warping shot at the enemy, this creates a small area of altered reality for the enemy, during that time they fight for their lives against an alter-enemy, lasts 20 seconds and deals x% of weapon damage, 50 second cool down.

I'm sorry, but you're just thinking up skills? There's nothing 'situational' about these, hell, the Frozen Fire Wall (which by itself isn't that bad an idea) is in Titan Quest: Briar Ward does the same kind of thing.
What exactly are you trying to do here? Is there something special I should see in these skills or are they just possible skills that you can get as a certain class? They're not bad - it really depends on what kind of classes we're going to get in this game, but they're just skills.
Now, I know you're a rather oddball character on these forums and you tend to make posts that generally make little sense (and you make a few that make a terrible amount of sense, as well) but this is the weirdest of them all.
I ask again: Did you ever play Titan Quest, this game's predecessor, made by the same people so they are aware of what they can do with this game?
On an unrelated note, this post isn't very useful either.

The main point of this post is to give our awesome developer friends at Crate Entertainment ideas about situational skills.
They don't have to be for any particular class, the developers can look at this thread take an idea right out of it and use it in the game.
There's nothing useless about it - The point of the thread is to generate ideas for Crate.
And I believe that all of the skills I listed could be used in specific situations (maybe you don't realize that, but who could? We haven't even seen a game-play video.)

More Skills -
- Gravity Infusion -
- The player infuses gravity into his minions causing enemies to be sucked towards them for 10 seconds, 30 second cool down, enemy is slowed by 70% after the duration of the effect due to fatigue for 5 seconds.
- Molten Rock -
- Area effected causes enemies to be enclosed in a molten hot spot dealing x% weapon damage for 3 seconds, enemies are rooted for 15 seconds, 35 second cool down.
- Warping Field -
- Player creates a field of warp, causing enemies to become confused for 9 seconds, during that time they act as your ally dealing 80% normal damage, 40 second cool down.
- Warp Shield -
- Enemies that attack the player have a x% chance to be converted into the player's ally dealing 110% for 9 seconds, this shield lasts 30 seconds and has a 1 minute cool down.
- Fiery Hail -
- Player casts rain of pain in the area chosen - deals 50% Fire and 50% Ice damage based off weapon damage, causes the enemy to slow by 70% for 10 seconds and has a 25 second cool down.
- Explosive Bomb -
- Player hurls a concussion inducing bomb at the enemy, stunning them for 5 seconds and dealing x% damage based on their weapon, 15 second cool down.

LOL. Indeed. End of thread.

I wouldn't call that a fair assessment. :p

I hope you don't mean the name. It sounds like "healthy poison", "woman's logic" or any other oxymoron.
A "random skills ideas" thread wouldn't be all that stupid, but if it was pinned and moderated by someone (worthless spells would be removed).

As far as I can tell, Medierra doesn't mind threads like these as long as they are constructive, so throwing out skill ideas and conceptual skill ideas seems pretty constructive to me.
Having one thread for all skills considered situational isn't bad either rather then looking at multiple threads that essentially say the same thing.

These skills aren't really situational, though. They're almost all disablers/CC of some sort, which a Mage or ranger will always use and a warrior will never use. I mean, sure, you could say they're situational, but those situations are "There are melée enemies closing on me" or "I'm surrounded by enemies" or "Ranged enemies are shooting at me". These are things which will happen pretty much every encounter, you can't call them situational.

definition:
1. state of affairs: a particular set of circumstances existing in a particular place or at a particular time
Kaye assessed the situation and decided to call you.
a situation where they didn't have a formal planning process
2. current circumstances: the current conditions that characterize somebody's life or events in a particular place, country, or society
destabilized the political situation
3. location: the location of a property
a pleasing situation with a view
4. combination of difficult circumstances: a difficult or problematic set of circumstances
I'm afraid we have a situation on our hands.
I think all skills I've said fits one of those definitions.

this "situational" idea got me thinking. I know what I'm about to type isn't exactly situational.
Maybe instead of having the average cooldown restricting skills...you could have them "charge" instead of cool down. For instance, you have the TQ Earth skill Fire orb. You cast the orb first thing when you get into combat and it does the aoe burn damage and fragments into 3 fire orbs. Now you try to use it 3 seconds later when it actually has a 6 second cooldown. The skill does launch normally as a projectile but because it wasn't done cooling down it does not produce the fire fragments...only the aoe burn.

Sounds quite interesting actually. But I'm afraid it'd cause a lot of half-assed skills to fire off mistakenly. And quite difficult to implement, let alone balance.
I'd love to see a mini Outsider with a chipmunk voice though :D

*etc*
Sure, but if you read my post properly I'm saying that those situations will crop up in every encounter. It's like saying that the ability to shoot an arrow is situational - you'll only use it in the situation that there's enemies.

with that amount of scope for what constitutes a situational skill would not "stab with sword" count as one. with the situation as monster in front of me.
i thought from when i started reading it the the skills would be only longer cooldowns i.e 5 min and be more like things are turning to custard- bail out skills as opposed to just run of the mill utility and CC spells.

Chicken Phall
The spell summons some extra-dimensional demons that force feed the target some extra-hot Chicken Phall. The target takes fire & poison damage (both over time) & is stricken by abdominal cramps (stun) & any physical damage (melee or ranged) will cause it to explode doing AoE damage. Higher levels give a chance that the target will *cough* so AoE damage focussed towards it's rear.

Brappa would be him if anything, Llama has been around for about 5-6 years that I've seen him. Used to be on Sacred 1 forums when Savior82 was still around..

This Brappa (http://www.titanquest.net/forums/members/brappa.html)? No. Though that is similar to certain sounds made at certain times...

Huh, I got there in May 2004 (or was it June)... it has been a while.
I liked version 1.5 best for sacred where PAIN was the king mod of them all: 2.5m dmg +. Ah memories; skills drop mechanics were skewed, etc.
