As some of you may know i just got a new rig, installed everything yesterday night, and after a few hiccups
(Basicly my tetra hard drive which is used as my gaming drive + backup and all that crap had some of win 7 data so i could not format it.. my fault yeah.. had to toy around to do a few backups from 1 drive to another and eventually another pc)
I finally able to power up everything and start installing programs and crap..
But well this rant is about the saving folder haha :P
Basicly i always found it weird that lets say you install your games on Drive D and your windows on drive C..
The game itself will all be in drive d but all save slates of the game as well as config will be in drive C.
And well basicly what happened is that i had a bunch of steam apps i wanted to back up and not having to download again since we have download limits here.. total of around 100 gb of games roughly... So i backed the whole Steam Apps folder and well....
i forgot to back up saves in drives C
While it is not THAT bad since those are only save files and the real important stuff was saved.. i still lost hundreds and hundreds of hours of gameplay...
Mainly Mass effect 1 & 2 which are roughly 50h each... and to be continued on Mass Effect 3 :(... oblivion (but that i had over 20 characters made total always started new games so meh doesnt matter) and so forth...
i feel like the old method of having the save files within the game folder itself was better...
I do understand that it is easier to backup 1 folder and you save every save slate... but if you forget.. you lose all your files instead of one game only
On the bright side, my lovely I7 is doing well, i still have to test my rig in a game or a bemchmark but still im enjoying it!
