Though i COULD go on the net.. for the past two weeks, they have been working on the wires near my place and my internet would shut down every 5 min...

im always on youtube / internet... i would be so fucking PISSED, couldnt do crap..

i could go on basic websites but not streams videos and other as such, it annoyed me

Frankfurt am Main is in a lot of Paradox games, as a "one province minor nation". Quite fun to play... otherwise, I don't know how you feel unless my phone and internet access go down at the same time.

Oh man! That reminds me that I really need to take time out from shoveling and such to play at least one round a day!

I've been thinking I should get a ranged mage (other than Kennen) but I don't know who it should be? None of them really stand out as one I'd like to play. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'll have to take a better look at Anivia and Kassadin. I think I tried them both back when I was still horrible at LoL, so I'm sure my view of them is tainted. Isn't Kassadin kind of a melee assassin/mage?

Heh, yeah, I should get Ryze. What kind of level 30 can I call myself when I don't own Ryze or Ashe! Nice, the new patch is out too. Looks to be some interesting changes. Anyone tried Maokai yet?

That would be Renekton before he got his buffs. He was alot of fun and I don't think he was as underpowered as many wanted him to seem. :P

I don't know, did they change Malz in the last two patches? He never felt overpowered to be honest.. Quite strong though.

2. His ult can be canceled. If people wouldn't blow all their stuns/silence/etc the second the see something moving his ult would be no danger at all.

3. I might be wrong but I think you can use the QSS to cleanse out of his ult. Not sure there though I'd recommend to try it out.

The most dangerous Malzahar players I've seen are the ones that roam around a bit looking for people that are already a little weak. If he has Null Zone maxed, and can hold you in place on it with his ultimate, just Null Zone takes 22.5% of your max HP (-MR).

Also, I don't think you can do much of anything once he gets you with his ultimate... unless you have QSS or are Gangplank (remove scurvy). Even those just break the immobilization. If he has Flash, it's pretty hard to do anything in time to silence or stun him before he can get you, assuming you happen to have a silence, stun, etc.

If a teammate is around they might be able to stop his ultimate, but a good Malzahar usually finishes people when they are alone or retreating, from what I've seen.

Sure, in team fights you can have someone stun him, but chances are, he silenced your whole team with his Q, and picked off one guy who's all by his lonesome because that is what he does.

And his ulty does not require a ton of AP to deal tons of damage, it has a 150% ratio with AP, it only takes about 200-300 AP to one shot almost every champion.

I have never seen a Malzahar one-shot a champion unless he was fed like hell, which doesn't make it anything special, or if he has a big level-advantage which is normally the result of some mistakes by your team.
You are exaggerating here.
If he silences your whole team (read: 5 players) with one Q...well what can I say? That is just terrible play by your team. Why would you stand on top of each other? There is no reason for that.
If he picks one guy off who is all by himself it is basically a mistake by that player. Going alone is never smart and Malzahar is a very good 1v1-champ so it sums up I guess. Especially when Malz has a level-advantage from solo-laneing.

I won't deny that he is a good and balanced champion who can be a strong mage-carry but I don't see him being overpowered. He deals pure magic-dmg and there is enough stuff to mitigate that.
An early Negatron-Cloak will take away a lot of the dmg his ult+null zone do.

Good items vs him imo:
- Hexdrinker
- Banshe's Veil
- Quicksilver Sash (builds out of NEgatron Cloak btw)

(I read on the wiki that it indeed removes Malzahar's ult.)

With what champs are you playing against him? Maybe we can find some counters instead of crying op? ;)

PS: Malzahar's cd on his ult is 120/100/80 according to wiki.

You're missing the point where he can dominate his lane enemy at level 6, and just move lane to lane ganking every person on the map.

I didn't say he's impossible to counter, I said he's ludicrously powerful. Like I said, his ulty deals 150% of his AP, and has a VERY short cooldown for a surefire kill skill. 80 seconds is nothing, its easy to max CDR and maintain a nice chunk of AP (look at the new item released, blue buff, runes/masteries, etc) And if you play anything BUT a tank, this ONE guy will force you to drop your build and build against him, and become worthless in team fights. That's not right, it really isn't. It's like pre-nerf twitch who could penta any team fight, or eliminate any lane he wanted until they got an oracle, which is a CHEAP remedy, yet he could STILL kill you simply because he has ridiculous range.

No I didn't miss that point but you miss a few from my post I think.

1. By level 6 you should be able to have a QSS. It has 105 secs cd while Nether Grasp has 120 (without cdr). With that you should be able to make his Ult worthless against you. By level 6 Malzahar shouldn't have 200-300 AP so his Ult will only deal 250 + AP dmg. I think something like 400 dmg from his ult is likely. All that BEFORE MR. Not building MR against a caster in mid is...well don't do it. There are champs who don't need that (e.g. Sivir or Morgana) though.

So basically he hits level 6 now in the lane. I don't expect him to have much mana there so he will most likely B. You do the same (you are 6 as well hopefully) and come back with a Negatron Cloak or even a QSS depending on how well you laned.
(I will use example-stats since you refuse to tell us what you play)
With Ashe at level 6 you would now have 78 MR with a Cloak and 86 with a cloak.
This results in about 43,8% and 46,2% reduction of magic-dmg. With this his ult deals 215-228 dmg.
As I said I don't know what champ you are playing but I don't see Malzahar dominating you or anyone level 6 especially not if you have QSS.

Regarding: Delaying a build.
Always building the same every single game is neither smart nor effective. You will have to adjust your builds according to the enemy's teamcomp.
Building MR is never bad and you will have to do it sooner or later anyway. If you now say that you never build survivability when you are mid-carry...weeeeell I suggest you watch streams of some good players. ;)

I have played against very good malz-players even in mid and I failed miserably. That's why I decided to think about what I did wrong instead of calling him op. :)

I think Morgana could take Malzahar on. I usually only take Morgana to a 1v2 lane though, I can't remember facing Malzahar mid with her. A banshee's veil would mess him up big time though.

Yep it cleanses every debuff on you once you use it bit unlike Cleanse doesn't provide additional protection for a few seconds after being used.

I was using Morgana as an example for a champion who doesn't have to buy MR because of her BlackShield. It should be tough to time it to protect from his ult though since it is instant though. Would need practice and a bit of luck. :P

btw: I am not even really theory-crafting here. I am just stating mere facts and not some irrational "if"- and "maybe"-stuff.
