Last night I watched a good show about the Amazon on "NatGeo" and then a few minutes ago I was looking at a side-banner on a website for that new Caprica show on "SyFy".
Is it just me or do those name changes seem unnecessarily douchie? I mean common... does everything need to cater to hipsters and personalities from the TV show Jersey Shore?
Not that I have anything against hipsters or douche-bags. I mean, many of my friends and family probably fall into one of those categories and I can appreciate a little douche-baggery now and again. But there is a time and place for it. Common... NatGeo?! really? Kind of loses a little bit of integrity for me.
Oh btw, we're changing the game of our game to "G-Dizzle"...

That last line made me literally laugh out loud..."G-Dizzle" :D
I was complaining about this very same crap to the wife the other night...especially the NatGeo thing...makes me think of Natty-Ice and other cheap beer, not quality nature based programming.
It really feels like all the integrity is gone. We used to watch a lot of Court TV...which is now TruTV...I mean...wtf??? And it's more than just a name change...they used to have really nice informative shows on there...now it's just reruns of Operation Repo all day :furious:

While G-Drizzle is great, I think that would only appeal to the English.
For America, you need something like GymDon

They cannot stop, while they have still customers. That's their way of telling you: "We have run out of ideas. Leave us alone, so that we close our business." :p
I'm just glad I don't own a TV.

And while I own a television, the only thing it comes on for is watching DVDs; or playing old console games. Ah youth.

On the matter of NatGeo here in the UK they appear to be selling out and have now put their name against house fragrance products...Shame

SciFi was bad enough, but this I find appalling. Apparently, so must the Polish... (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/3/18/)

I can get NatGeo, National Geographic Channel isn't really easy to pronounce all the time. But syfy seems totally without a point. (other than to come in the news because you are changing your name into something stupid)

Syf is the short form of 'syfilis', in Polish, which means (surprise!) syphilis.
Syfy is the plural form. So yeah, that name sucks.

Has someone been indulging in the Joss Sticks & Whale Song a bit too much?

Okay, so the game's going to be named G-Dizzle. Does that mean the character selection screen gives players the option to choose between homies and dawgs?

for what its worth, the reason "sci-fi" changed their name to "syfy" is because you cant trademark or copyright a common usage term like "sci-fi"...

My dad just spent a butt load of money on a new Samsung LED TV for our living room, and plans on buying a 3DTV (they're in the works), yet I rarely see him watching TV. I DVR a lot of stuff, and its great, but yeah... My TV watching equates to all of 5 hours a day, and my dad only watches "NatGeo", News, and sports. Our TV watching doesn't warrant a TV, especially when networks are becoming SyFy.
What does SyFy equate to? Syins Fycshun?
