View Full Version : Call of Duty: Black Op's
I'm sure most of you have heard about it.. so who's buying it?
I used to be a huge Battlefield series fan. Played in comps with various teams for years. Was disappointed with BF2 and probably a bit burnt out. That's when I started playing WoW.
I like the way FPS have gone with all of the rewards and achievements. I like the numbers that pop up on screen after I kill someone like +10, +50, +100 etc. I also like being reminded how well I'm doing with my kill streak flashing up on screen and someone telling me I'm godlike!
I pre-ordered CoD:BO yesterday (7.5gig round-abouts) in a split decision and am looking forward to getting into it. I've been looking at all the you tube clips of people playing CoD:BO and it looks like hella fun. It also has a good single player story too.
Anyone else into FPS? Or more in-line with the thread, CoD series?

I am a pretty big FPS fan as well. Although i haven't looked into black ops yet. I guess i will have to check that one out tonight. I was however dissapointed to see that the new Medal of Honor game changed the name of the Taliban to Opposing Force because a couple of people got butt hurt about it. Still i will probably play that game as well.

How is it for single player? Any good bot support?
It would have to be pretty good for $60.
I never played MW2, but everyone is saying that MW2 shits all over black ops.
BO's multiplayer on PC is absolutely dreadful at this stage, the worst I've ever experienced. It's laggy and freezes virtually every 15secs or something for a few secs at a time.
I have to play it on the lowest of low graphics and edit the config file to get a game that's half playable. It looks like shit because of it.
If you're an Xbox gamer, then you're set. The game is a woeful console port to PC and they will need a patch to fix it. A lot of pissed off people and I am one of them considering I paid $90 for this crap.

I didn't preorder BO because MW2 online was dreadful.
Waiting on the players review before reaching into my wallet.
It's suppose to be mw2 with proper online support (dedicated servers+mods).

I'll be skipping blk ops altogether.
I thought CoD 2 was pretty good, but I never could get into WWII games all that much, especially considering how my Grandfather fought for the German side (although he never wanted to, but was forced to, and left Germany as soon as the war ended).
Didn't care much for CoD3, nor Modern Warfare 1.
Mdrn Wrfre 2 came out, and I wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away how good it was.
World at War was good too, but it was still just another WWII shooter.
I just mainly play it for the Nazi Zombies portion.
I haven't played Black Ops, but I've seen it played to the end, and while it looks good, I just can't stand the story & plot. It has one of those mind trip scenarios, where you are jumping back in time, all the while experiencing things from a perspective that isn't altogether real.
I don't want to spoil anything, but I personally thought the story was a waste of time. The action is good, but the story just ruins the experience for me personally.
Modern Warfare 2 remains my favorite.
BTW
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is a good Western FPS with sort of a Call of Duty feel to it.
BTW2
I don't play Co-op, so I can't comment on any of the games multi-player.
I'm a single-player campaign kind of guy.
