Hello,
I heard that Grim Dawn will be as long as only Episode 1 (Greece) in Titan Quest. Is that correct? How long is it compared to Tq?

It is hard to judge exactly how long it will be in terms of gameplay time from start to finish relative to TQ. We're designing the world a little bit differently and we plan on having a higher density of optional quests. So, a huge factor in play-time will be how many optional quests players choose to finish and what percentage of the more open levels they clear out.
TQ was somewhat of a narrow corridor of levels from beginning to end. Grim Dawn will have wider, more open areas with more in them. So the distance from stand to finish in a straight line might be shorter but the amount of actual playable world-space will be larger, at least when comparing it to Greece. Based on the way we're designing it, there should also be a huge amount of replay value.
All in all, you can expect that Grim Dawn will be smaller than TQ as a whole, which is why we're planning to sell it for less than half TQ's price at release.

Initially while playing TQ this was the first thing in map development that caught my eye. Good to see a change in that as it was one of my put offs to a game like that. It really took away from the realistic feeling of environment.

I'm not sure if I like it. I'm one of those people that has to uncover ever single part of the map, and the narrow areas in Titan Quest let me keep up a good pace without feeling like I missed anything.

Well I am sure that the areas wont be empty so at least it will be alot of fun to explore every bit of the world.^^
Every played "Star Ocean: Till the End of Time"? THAT was a pain to explore because the map even told you how much you discovered...T_T what a tease.

Yea, I'm OCD too. I can't think of a single game that I didn't uncover every single piece of an area. That's why i can't really stand multiplayer sometimes hahaha. I didn't mean get rid of them though, I would just really like to see less of them. Since it comes to a point where if you stood back, and looked at the entire map, it's almost as if the world was made of nothing but valleys. That's why I'm strongly supportive of the whole idea of making a world/building/etc. in games, then creating the areas/rooms/whatever in it after you've made a beautiful world.

Length of a game is not a good reference value, if you think about it.
Reduce the walking speed by 20% and make 10% less levels -> the game will be 10% longer in terms of playing time as a result, but still it would be "less game" in terms of content...

Agree with this. Length of a game is too player-dependent to be a universal measure of extent.

Actually, the game would be 12.5% longer, to be accurate... :P Anyway, I doubt any developer would just reduce moving speed and number of levels without increasing density of actual game content, not Crate at least.

Did you ever play Borderlands with the General Knoxx DLC? They didn't implement portals for it and introduced lengthy highways for the players to race over, over and over again as you're getting new assignments in areas you've already returned from. Basically, you're driving around from point A to B for more than 50% of the time (no exaggeration, unfortunately), which made the add on extensively long, while not offering any notable entertainment value. So there's definetely (good) companies around creating lengthy games just for the sake of it...

I like to see new content added with Expensions, those "Assassin Creed 1 / 2, Bioshock 1 / 2 /3 , Mass Effect 1 /2 " looks a bit Money Making Business for me... Before, when a game had a "2", it was so much a big advancement in the Engine / Gameplay and overall...
Even if the game is 1/2 of what TQ is, it will be awesome. But with this, I suppose there will be additional content over time.

Took me 39 hours to beat TQ/IT leaving no corner of the map unexplored.

Game length is really variable, TBH what I am more interested in is what my time spent playing:cash paid ratio when it comes to games.
My best 3 buys Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 and TQ on this ratio, in that order.
