I love the game :)
It's by far the best polished game I know off - and they keep on polishing it.
I never bother to get caught up in a community for it though, but it's nice to play with friends.

Yep, it's been what, 2 years since they released? And still new updates are coming out :)
They did a most excellent job balancing it and I can't wait for the new Engineer update to come out ^-^

Great game. Was addicted for a long time. Haven't been keeping up recently though.

Been playin a lot of this too, so I know how you all feel. The new create your own item sounds interesting...

The crafting? That's a very lame thing, which allows you to use your double weapons to create weapons that you didn't unlock yet.
If they instead prevented dropping things you already had, they could do away with the entire inventory screen, which is pretty useless.
But perhaps they'll work it out further, than it can become interesting.

Not the crafting (that is pretty lame I might add), the new "Create your own item" thing they got going on. I read about it on the official site. Don't know if this is live yet tho.

I thought the crafting was the whole "create your own item" thing?

It's this new contribution site they apparently started where fans can create stuff and submit it to valve for possible inclusion in the game. Tho the more I think about it it seems this game is going in the wrong direction...

I wasn't even really a fan of all the new weapons and stuff that was coming out. They did well to keep game balance in terms of class skills and weaknesses, but you'd always find a server would heavily lean towards a certain class when one of these updates came out, and that tended to put me off the game

True - but they sorta fixed that in the latest demo vs soldier update. Which intentionally pitched the two classes against eachother (the winning class would get the secret weapon).
I'm curious as to how they'll handle the engie update; been waiting for that for a long time, my most played character by far.
And the new weaponry is quite interesting. Heh, walking around with a charging shield and a giant 2 handed sword called the "eyelander", growing stronger as you decapitate enemies :D

Haha true. I was however a bit of a purist in regards to the game. Being in an active scrimming clan for quite a time meant I was quite adept and comfortable with "standard" weapons

I had to look up scrimming. I don't think the game lends itself very well to competitive online play. You can throw cans of ehh.. jarate at each other though :)

Even though there are a bevy of new items... I find myself being basic.
I get a massive kick out of the Eyelander and the targe, though "and thus begins my thousand year reign of BLOOD".
But, I'm usually just playing with the ubersaw as a medic and nothing else; sandvich and no other upgrades as a heavy, axtinguisher as a pyro, etc. Usually not decked out. Just tactical.
Great game, though. Have been playing since the day in Oct 2007 it came out.
cheers,
Malph

Ahh the good ol' jar of pee. I found competitive online play to work quite well if both teams were organized and the right map was chosen. We were part of the CyberGamer TF2 ladder and it was quite a lot of fun

moved here from tq forums, for a while...
About TF2 what can I say... the cake is a lie. oh wait. that's Portal. Anyway I'm a big fan of Valve games, and spent a good time of my life playing TF2. This game is pure awesomeness.
p.s. Scout is better than Chuck Norris ;)

Really, why? :(
I find that the differences between the classes is really quite well done and the different game modes all feel well done.

Not sure why...I think I am just pretty bored with MP shooters...they haven't changed much (on a fundamental level) and I feel like I am playing the same game over and over.
The last MP shooter that I really like was L4D.
Not trying to say TF2 isn't that good or anything, it seems like an excellent game with amazing polish...just doesn't interest me all that much.
