I've recently started playing Torchlight again and this time I intend to finish it. The atmosphere in the game's really nice.
I found that the game unfortunately needs mods to be properly playable for me though, luckily there's good modding tools which supports a good modding community - and mods are very easy to search for and install with Torchleech.
The current mods I'm using are;
Enchant never wipe - yeah, that's totally cheating, although I find that I don't overabuse enchanting because it's too expensive and I still regularly swap my enchanted stuff with new stuff I've found.
Ferret Pet - not using it though.
Items Always Identified - The headaches I had with identifying every item, identify scrolls cluttering the screen - finally over!
Knee Deep in Blood - supposed to show more blood. I'm really not sure if it's working.
Ocular Golems - replaces your pet demons with golems, which are much more fitting in the steampunk series. Also, they don't require the corpses, which is a huge pre.
Persistent Skeletons - longlife skeletons. Removes the headache of resummoning them everytime, but doesn't give a real advantage. I don't think it's working though...
Portal Stone - was supposed to remove town portal scrolls with a portal stone, didn't work though.
Potion Stacksize - makes the best of the small inventory granted to you by the devs
Power Hour Tweak - I can't be bothered resummoning auras every 30 seconds, it's just busywork. This makes those spells last an hour. Love this mod!
SkillsLeech - Allows several skill attacks to use modifiers like life and manasteal. Not using it much with my pet-focussed build, but back when I used a Destroyer I was really annoyed that this feature wasn't implemented in the game.
Stop All Skills: The Skill! - Allows you to turn off long lasting skills. No need for it really, but could be handy to have.
Streamlined HUD - actually I didn't notice that this mod was active. I guess that's probably a good thing
Town Warp Scroll - another attempt at removing the Town Portal hassle, didn't succeed either.
I'm also planning to install the lvl999+200fame mod once I've finished the game.
Anybody got tips for good mods to use?
I hope there's a mod that allows you to keep track of your pets a la D2, as I'm getting tired of counting how many pets I have running around all the time...
I'm also hoping there's a mod that show you under which effects you are and how long they last. When I cast Haste, I want to know when the Timer is over so I can recast it.
I couldn't find either of these mods, I just hope I overlooked something, but I guess not.
Anyway, these mods have spiced up the game for me. I wish at least half of them were implemented in the game.. The only questionable mod I'm using, imo, is the Enchant Never Wipe mod, but I'm not really abusing it. The economy in Torchlight is really well done, so I don't have tons of money to waste anyway.
tldr; anybody got tips for Torchlight mods?
