King's Bounty: The Legend - Free game!

So just purchased Crossworlds (newest KB expansion) and the pre-order came with King's Bounty: The Legend...which I already own. I have no friends in 'real life' that play PC games so figured I would gift it to someone here :p

So basically going to have a fun little forum game...winner get's a gifted copy of KB:TL from me.

Rules

1. Please don't play if you really aren't interested in the game or if you know you don't enjoy this type of game.

2. Please don't play if you already own the game...be fair.

3. The game is on Steam and will be rewarded as a steam gift, so obviously a steam account is required.

4. I reserve the right not to give the game out at the end. I like just about every single member of this community though so shouldn't be an issue.

How it's played


I will ask a series of questions, whoever answers the question first gets a point. Once you get a point you get on the score board, for each additional point you get a tally mark. If nobody gets a question right for an extended period, we will move on to the next question, however, anyone can answer the passed question even after we moved on. I reserve final say on what's right/wrong or if something is close enough to receive credit for.

Questions will mostly consist of 'name this game' variants...either from pictures or from descriptions and or quotes. There may or may not be other types of gaming related questions as well, or even non-gaming related questions if I feel like it lol.

At the end whoever has the most tally marks wins!

Aside from that, cool generosity game. :) I'd play, but I'm not sure if I'd like the game or not. King's Bounty, that is, not the forum game. I know I'll hate the forum game lol

Anyways, I wouldn't tell you can't play the game...I'd say if you ever enjoyed the Heroes of Might and Magic games or other similar strategy titles go for it.

It's turn based right? The only turn based RPGs I've played are HOMM5(one of the newer ones i think), Gladius for the PS2, Legend of Dragoon and FF8..

FF8 was "ok", a bit too anime-ish for me and it got really annoying after a while (freaking LONG ass game.) but the story was nice.

Legend of Dragoon was a similar experience but I liked the combat system better, and the characters were more interesting. I just liked it better haha.

Gladius was probably one of the best games I've ever played. Seriously, I loved that game. Very strategic, turn based movement-combat oriented.

And HoMM5 was fun. I enjoyed it while I could play it, but the games are SO long. (I played MP only and it was irritating being in a single game for hours)

Ah well, not trying to hijack you or anything here. I guess I'll give it a shot. I mean, I'm early to the game, I get a headstart! Especially since I know the third one.

Question 3: ARX FATALIS.

It's like a HOMM game with a bunch of RPG thrown in. you basically run around on an map completing quests, finding gold and items, and recruiting units for your army. There's a lot to do and lots of quests.

Battles take place like HOMM...turn base strategy with you taking turns with the computer moving and attacking with units. Most units have special attacks, and there's TONS of options. You also have magic in the game and 'spirits of rage' that you can use after building up rage (taking/giving damage).

The main hero levels up in game, and you can invest in three different skill trees that give bonuses and in some cases new skills/spells.

There tons of items to find which can be equipped on your character and even set items that give bonuses for completion.

It's a really nice mixture of genres in my opinion, and as a fellow loot/arpg whore I think you would enjoy the game :D

And yes, you are right for question 3!

I'm not going to guess/play since I'm not interested enough in King's Bounty (for reasons stated already, just didn't find it as intriguing as HoMM and Disciples), but that first picture is really haunting me. I just know I have played that game yet the name of it totally escapes me.

No clue on #2. #3 I thought was Hexen.... that is until I went back and actually google'd what Hexen looks like. I used to love that game too, heh.

I can't speak for #8, I only played the original, but your #9 is spot on. Full Throttle is one of my favorite games of all time.

Thank you to Coridan for naming #1 Hillsfar. I used to play that game so often as a kid and I had totally forgotten about it.

It's worth 6 bucks haha. I got it for 15 and haven't really touched it, but there's a nice hunk of new content. (if you have the original SF, if not, well it's still really good for the price.)

The only issue I found was the game didn't detect that I had the original, so I couldn't use my old characters... so I reinstalled SF and tried to start it up and got a Tages error thing... finally fixed that a few weeks ago and now I don't feel like playing SF lol

PS: I love how they claim that the 6$ Champions Online deal includes a "free" expansion...

THAT EXPANSION WAS FREE FOR EVERYONE. There's no savings there!!

It is standalone. But when you go to start a game, it asks to play the Silverfall campaign, or the EA campaign.

It was a bit different than some of the other RPG's around that time...more action orientated. It actually reminded me a bit like Zelda (the one on the SNES) but not nearly as good. Fun game regardless.
