Yeah, we got it for fairly cheap a few years back, I think like 25 or 30 brand new (xmas steam sale) and I wasn't impressed. The story was "ok" at best, and the gameplay was meh. took me forever to beat the game cause it just didn't grasp me and I couldn't find the will to play it. The multiplayer was why I got it, and the MP is almost nonexistent. You and your ally (or allies, not sure how many can play) just do various missions, no story, no nothing. It's kinda lame.
That said, there were some neat things... like destructible environments, canisters that went flying and hit enemies.

LOL...well that doesn't sound good.
Have you played Alien Shooter 2? If so how would it compare?

I had more fun with Alien Shooter, since that's more of a "go blow some sht up, have some loot, now go blow some more sht up" type of game. Space siege tries to be a lot more story/drama based, and it just feels like it takes itself way too seriously when the story is both it's weakest aspect and not what you're there for.
There's no character customization or loot in the traditional sense. Weapons are handed out at specific intervals much like an FPS, and monsters only drop a type of currency you use to upgrade your stuff. The upgrades are pretty bland as well - reload speed, damage, resistance, that type of stuff.
The real kicker for me was when I tried it in coop with a friend. You start at max level with all gear, there's no xp or looting involved, and you're not playing the campaign but separate coop-specific maps that are basically big gray metal rooms with a few mobs in them. We were literally laughing out loud at the level design and how bland it was.
It's alright for a playthrough if you're just looking to pass a bit of time, but it made me feel bad for anyone who shelled out full retail price for it.

Lol, exactly how I felt. That was the most retarded MP I've ever played in an ARPG-wannabe... wait, this is the only wannabe arpg I ever played...
And yea, Alien Shooter will be more fun in the long term cause you can fire it up and play for a little bit, or play for a long time. Space siege... you'll always play it for a little bit. :P And even worse, there's NO replay value.
yeh it is really pore and it just dosnt deserve its name tie in.
i have played some shadow grounds and i think its better i havent played Alien Shooter, but alien swarm will give you more depth than Space Siege.

Well just finished playing the first level...so far it's alright I guess. Controls are hard to get used to but getting the hang of it.
For $5 it looks like I will get some fun out of the game, but yeah if I would have shelled out $50 would have been pretty upset.

i had just been playing dungeon siege 1 so i was probably a bit harsh on it for something i paid less than $2 for

R3D...
You weren't being harsh on it, I had a copy of it given to me and I still think I somehow managed to get ripped of. has a host of poor design issues and ran like ass on my system, which is well above the recommended settings. If I'd realized Chris Taylor had been working on garbage like this I would have expected a LOT less out of SupCom2

"Space Siege" is a game that I never want to be mentioned ever again !
Anyone who uses that name again will be cast into the pit, and forced to live on his own filth.
You have all been warned.

I dunno...living on your own filth doesn't sound like living at all.

I bought it for €2,50 and I found it a fair price. It's not amazing by any means, it has a lot of unused potential, but unlike some games that cost a lot more, I didn't consider it a waste of time (which generally is worse than the loss of money). If I paid much more I probably would have felt screwed though.
It's pretty much like all those space action RPG's (Alien Breed, Alien Swarm, Ultimate Alliance, Greed: Black Border, etc...) for some reason they all miss the shot and end up in the row of mediocre titles.

I found Greed a far superior game to SpaceSiege. You at least had SOME freedom in customizing your character. Space Siege was, do I want the implants or not? Greed has several armor affixes and sockets to place enchants in.
Swarm and Breed aren't even RPGs, they're really just top down shooters.

Yea, but doesn't Space Siege suffer from the same problem? It's more of a topdown action shooter than an RPG.
