Are there any infos about the quest system available?
Action rpg normally lack a challenging quest system, in most terms the jobs are plain and simple like "kill 6 wolves", "deliver this package to Mr. X" or "collect 8 herbals for my earthshaking healing potion". Fighting all night long and collecting items is fun, but it should not make 99% of a game. Instead of this i hope to experience multi-part quests related to each other, quests with different solutions, quests that need some patience and clerverness to solve. In addition some secret locations and perhaps one or two riddles. I know, itīs not easy to realize this "oldie-stuff" in an action rpg - even few "classic" rpgīs have it. And perhaps itīs also a business risk to challenge players with a game, that cannot be solved by monkeys on speed in 10 minutes, but perhaps itīs worth the risk.

Donīt know if you ever played "Sacred 1+2" from German developer Ascaron - there were some nice single quests and quest-lines in the game.

I suddenly remeber of Diablo 1 quest.

As most of you know, Diablo quest is generated randomly when we start new game. In addition to the main quest (which is everybody will get it), you have a chance of getting random quest like, Poisoined Water Supply, The Butcher, King Leoric, Gharbad the Weak and some more other.

This is one of the unique experience of Diablo 1. Also, other than normal killing quest there is also rather weird quest like the Gharbad the Weak.

GHARBAD THE WEAK
Quest Given From: Gharbad the Weak
Quest Summary: Venture into Level 4, and you will meet Gharbad the Weak. He will tell you that if you protect him from the enemies in the dungeon, he will give you a great reward. After he tells you this, go off somewhere else besides Level 4. Return to him and receive an item. At this time he will tell you that he is still crafting your reward, and will give you some item to hold you over until then. Leave Level 4 and return to Gharbad a second time, and he will tell you that he is almost done. Leave again and return to Gharbad, and he will say that he has finished the item, but you he suddenly attack you. He is easy to kill, and when you do, pick up the random item he was making.

Did you play any of the quests from act 4 of titan quest? I found the Hades quests to be the most entertaining, fun quests I've seen in *most* hack and slash games. The whole story following admetus was pretty neat, finding the crystals for the secret room, and a few others were not so dull like most of the others.

While I agree that "killing X monster" etc is boring, I enjoy killing specific quest-boss monsters. That was one of my favorite things about Diablo 2, hunting down the countess, the smith, etc. Not only was it an interesting descent, but you could get pretty good loot besides the actual quest loot. TQ had this a bit (stygian lurker, toothless one, that enforcer boar from act 1, etc).

I don't really know what I'm talking about anymore... I like cool quests. I think that was my point....

Yeah, in Act 4 the hades treasure quest is quite fun. It involve thinking and not too straight forward. I have no idea at first but figure it out later to collect jewel from hades general.

It's true though, boss killing quest is not boring. I really look forward to boss killing in diablo 2 since most drop are good. But you all know how drop in TQ. Unless I glimpse at at least green, I'm not gonna take a look at all. And it rarely drop.

Yeah, I also like cool quest.

What I liked very much about the quests in TQ (besides the great stories behind some of them, 'Admetus' has already been mentioned and there are some more) is that you could complete them without been given the quest itself.
Hey, what am I talking about...?
Well, for example the quest with the hidden treasure in Fayum - if you come to stumble across the cave before entering Fayum and been given the quest, you will still complete it - what to me makes a hole lot of sense, though Im not so much into this 'everything has to be as realistic as possible' - thing... at least, we want to weave magic in such a game, don't we? But if you explore a cave completely and find nothing but some creatures and maybe a chest, then walk into town where some guy tells you about some hidden tresure that, after that and only then, appears to be hidden in this already explored cave, this gives me the creeps... Can't be, you think ? Well, Sacred 2 did this over and over again... one of the reasons I only played it till gold with only one toon... (don't get me wrong, had its good sides also, and some of its quests had been really awesome, but overall wasn't that fun to me as I hoped for...)
One word about those 'bread-and-butter' - quests as I like to call them like 'kill x of those' or 'kill that y to bring me z': aren't at last all of the quests in such games like that, just clad in different clothes ? I think they are, but have no doubt that Crate will have some fine fibres to weave that clothes, just as they had in many of the quests in TQ.
Besides, waiting for the day when some questgiver tells me to 'Kill 20 wild boars' and my toon will reply 'Kill 20? You're kidding? Already killed 200 of those, so stop bugging me and thanks for the reward.'

Great idea! Even more as TQ did not suffer from collect/kill so many of X.
